It’s ironic that Microsoft initially cornered the marketing for Social Media, before it was labelled so. MSN Messenger followed in the steps of IRC, ICQ then AIM but they didn’t quite create the interest that Facebook or MySpace have.
Microsoft are now targeting the social media route within businesses. Many of these individuals subscribed to ‘MSN’ in their younger days, but have all grown up and some now own businesses.
Enter stage right, Microsoft Office Outlook Social Media Connector. First announced in Nov ’09, this has opened a plethora of opportunities for large to medium size business individuals to gain exposure where they may have previously been muted.
